On Monday, some social media users claimed that during the IPL 2024 match MI vs RR, fans of Mumbai Indians cricketer Rohit Sharma were stopped from holding posters at the Wankhede Stadium.
In a viral video on X, a fan claimed that posters with captions cheering for former MI captain Rohit Sharma were stopped at the entrance and were even asked to be thrown aside.

According to an official, fans were not allowed to bring banners or posters inside the stadium due to the Election Commission’s instructions given to Mumbai Police, PTI reported. However, the Election Commission’s directive was about restricting the entry of political banners and not posters. But the stadium management’s actions were the result of miscommunication as well as misinterpretation of the order, the news agency reported.

MI vs RR IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya gets booed again, ‘Rohit Rohit’ echoes in Wankhede
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya is facing constant pressure during the ongoing IPL matches. On Monday night, the Wankhede crowd once again booed Pandya, amid which the entire stadium echoed with slogans of ‘Rohit…Rohit’.

29-year-old Pandya was made the captain of Mumbai Indians in place of Rohit Sharma before the tournament. He has faced the wrath of the crowd over the franchise’s decisions regarding leadership during the team’s last two matches in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

He was criticized by a section of the crowd when he was circling the ground as a warm-up exercise before the toss. When Pandya’s name was announced at the time of the toss, he was also booed again. As the stadium was filled with slogans in support of Rohit Sharma, the flamboyant all-rounder was all smiles.

As loud noise followed the toss, presenter Sanjay Manjrekar was forced to ask the crowd to “behave”. The banter continued when Pandya started speaking after losing the toss to Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson.
